These two lectures by Professor David Blockely were given in the University of Bristol in February 2011. They are a really good way to get a handle on systems thinking and how it’s applicable to the world in which we live. They are called A Tale of Two Systems. If you like them and the traditional lecture format then there are five more in the series which you can find on you tube or at the systems centre at the UoB.

The last quarter of the last century seems to have led to a development of the recognition of the interdependence of ‘systems’ in many different academic fields. I have a particular interest in mimetic theory (Girard/Oughourlian) and the application in the workplace of interdividual psychology and am struck by the similarities with systems theory.
Hi Damian,
Can you point to any work that connects either leadership, or learning, to Girard’s work? I have made an initial foray into his work, in relation to the role that software tools for more reflective deliberation may play — as a way to pre-empt negative mimetic contagion on the internet.
